CSIR-IITR Junior Stenographer

The CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow, is inviting applications from eligible Indian nationals for the post of Junior Stenographer. There are 04 vacancies to be filled under this recruitment. Interested candidates can submit their applications online between 7th May 2025 (5:00 PM) and 31st May 2025 (5:00 PM).

This recruitment is under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), functioning under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit (as on 31/05/2025):
    18 to 27 years.
    Relaxation:
    • SC: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • PwBD: 10 years (SC 15, OBC 13)
    • Widows/Divorced Women (Unmarried): Up to 35 years (SC 40)
    • Ex-Servicemen: As per CSIR/GoI norms
  • Educational Qualification:
    10+2 (12th pass) with proficiency in stenography (English or Hindi) as per CSIR/DoPT norms.

Selection Process

  1. Written Test (OMR/Computer-based, 200 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours; extra time for scribe-eligible candidates):
    • Part I: Mental Ability & Reasoning (50 marks)
    • Part II: General Awareness (50 marks)
    • Part III: English Language & Comprehension (100 marks)
      Negative marking: 0.25 per wrong answer
  2. Proficiency Test in Stenography(Qualifying only):
    • Dictation: 80 wpm for 10 minutes
    • Transcription time:
      • English: 50 minutes (70 for scribe)
      • Hindi: 65 minutes (90 for scribe)
  3. Final Merit: Based on written test scores (only for those who qualify stenography test)
    Tie-breaker: Fewer negative marks > older age > earlier qualification > alphabetical order of first name
  4. Test Location: Lucknow

Salary and Fee

  • Salary: Pay Level-4 (Approx. ₹50,200 with allowances under 7th CPC)
  • Application Fee: ₹500 (non-refundable)
    Exempted Categories: SC, ST, PwBD, Women, CSIR employees, Ex-servicemen
